About Hospice Caregiver Academy

Hospice Caregiver Academy is an educational web app built for families, friends, and informal caregivers who are caring for a loved one receiving hospice care at home. When a hospice team visits only a few times a week, the day-to-day comfort and safety of the patient rests in the hands of family caregivers — people who often have little medical training and many questions. We exist to give those caregivers calm, clear, trustworthy guidance so they can care with confidence instead of fear.
The app explains what hospice is and who qualifies, walks through common qualifying conditions such as heart failure, COPD, cancer, and dementia, and offers practical how-to for bed-bound care, daily routines, and recognizing the natural signs of decline. It also covers frequently used hospice medications — what they treat and how to use them safely — and a clear guide for when to call your hospice nurse. Interactive tools let families track vital signs and bowel movements and keep a simple daily care checklist.
Hospice Caregiver Academy is built by a small, independent team guided by commonly accepted hospice practices and the Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation, which protect patient and family rights, informed consent, and the interdisciplinary care team model. Our content is reviewed for clarity and compassion, and is offered as education only — never as a replacement for the professional medical advice of your own hospice team.
